About.

Rory Booth, aka Rozza, is a self-taught, mixed-media artist, living in St Leonards-on-Sea. His abstract-figurative paintings use bold colour, layered texture, handwritten text and raw gesture to disrupt the portrait and probe identity and the human psyche.

Beginning with stream-of-conscious sketches and abstract marks, each work is built through layering, abrasion and reworking, so process and image reflect an unstable, evolving self. The fragmented forms and fractured lines echo how identity is built from shifting thoughts and memories—fluid, illusory and never fixed. The work asks viewers to hold vulnerability, question rigid narratives of who we believe ourselves to be, and consider possibility over certainty.
